That stem though was the first one out of the S&M factory before they were available for sale. The next set-up will be legit. The front tire was purchased when I was up in Oregon about a year and a half ago. Had the same grips for over 2 years now..... they broke in right!!! No pins on one side of the right pedal for pedal grinds. Second set of wombolts.... Warranty bitch!!! I REALLY WANT A STRANGER FRAME.....

So I bet you're wondering about the mispelled words. That's because Dyran (Dylan Gushi) is a Japanese Reprechaun. So where there should be "L's", there are "R's". Hahahaha..... But this bike is cherry!!! First off, it got a custom powder coat from Mekala's Powder Coating which is sick.... Translucent Purple!!! Next, it's got U-brake mounts instead of V-brakes. The front wheel was personally laced by Dyran himself (hence he is our skate guy at the shop). Those hubs were Duane's old ones that he handed down to him. You just gotta see this bike up close..... It's a beauty!!!

The Verde Bikes team was on island since last week Tuesday cruising and filming for an upcoming video. The crew consisted of Brian Yeagle, Kevin Kiraly, Dave Thompson, newly added Justin Burns who heads their AM division and Will Stroud and Rob Dolecki behind the lens. I had the privilege to take those guys around for majority of their stay and DAMN... was it a blast!!! So much shit went down with those guys that I'll just save the juicy details for when the video comes out. Nichy B., James, and Christian also got in on the fun and took those guys around to couple spots. I didn't take any pictures because my iPhone was in Texas but, I don't think it mattered. Everything was taken in at the moment. But yeah, the guys dipped out earlier tonight back to their respective homes with great memories the island had to offer them. Super sick times..... Hopefully there's more to come!!!

Sooo, Duane's bike is pretty sick!!! It's a Cameron Wood frame that he had the guys at S&M customize with a Tiki headtube from the LE "Tiki" LTF's. The difference is his headtube doesn't have the bottle opener cut out. His brake system could quite possibly be as old as me. It's the brakes he was using when he was racing. This set-up weighs in at under 22lbs. Oh yeah, don't forget about that dope ass S&M pad set.... CHEEEE!!!!

So I get to see my orthopedic today at Kaiser for my normal check up on my knee. It has been acting up recently by getting swollen and shit but then goes away like nothing is wrong. I don't know, something I need to tell the doc. Anyway, I'm still awaiting the day I can get back on my bike and start running around. Sitting around and getting fat is NEVER-EVER on my agenda of things to do.FUCK THIS SUCKS!!!!.... So I was on TCU and saw this video of JJ Palmere which is bad ass. JJ also had ACL surgery near a year ago and look at this fucker go!!! I wasn't even watching the shit he was doing in the video, I was thinking about how I can't wait to ride all over again. I just have to be patient in the mean time and recover. GOD SPEED TO ME.....

So Chelsea and Napua decided they were gonna drag Chris Kahaku and I to go surfing today, but that plan didn't go through. Some indecisiveness between the two girls led to the canellation of that epic plan. It don't matter though, I was able to lace some wheels for my dope ass Free-Agent bike and was able to go through my collection of BMX DVD's. So as I was lacing wheels, I sat through watching Road Fools 16, DQYDJ 2, and Fit Life!!! Haven't seen these in what seems to be forever. So all in all, the day so far wasn't a total lost. Today is just chill.....

I was at Mai Tai Bar yesterday getting an early morning drink with some homies and saw this up on one of the billboards. It's an Oakley poster promoting their Jawbone sunglasses and it featured this conversion. Not an actual track bike, but a fixie in general. Later on that evening, there was an Izod or JC Penny commercial that had a dude carrying a fixie down the stairs. I found a pic of the commercial, but not the actual vid. What is this world coming too..... I don't know whether I'm for it or against it. CRAZY!!!

So last night was the Hawaii premiere of the new Fitbikeco. video at the Waipio store. It was a super good turn out with some new and old faces. Duane held down the grill and Cuyler set up the mini jam sessions. Mikey took the best trick contest, Pomai and Corey tied at highest bunny hop, and Cedric I think took footdown. I was a bit buzzin' by then. Hahahaha..... I was so caught up in the commotion that I totally spazzed on figuring out when my jam is going to be thrown. Just picked up the new one from Mutiny Bikes. It's a really good vid in my opinion; super good riding, good soundtrack, and the filming is fab-o. It's a must have for your BMX video collection. Also, at work yesterday, Duane, Wayne, and I decided to fuck with Bronson aka Brown-Eye or Bronsai. First, he thought his new Subrosa frame came in so he caught the bus with his girl from Kalihi to the Waipio store. He was disappointed to find out it wasn't there. Hahahaha.... So him and his girl, Alex, decide to walk up to 7-Eleven where we took his bike and broke it down to put in Duane's BOB bag. Jeff ends up playing "Hot and Cold" with him and he finds where his bike is..... Hilarious!!! Here's a few shots of the fun.....

A homie of the shop came by also, Chris Parrish, and brought over his new Eddie V2 he's building up to put on his new shoes Duane laced up. The color way was like "WHAT THE FUCK!!!" but when it all went together, it didn't look so bad..... GOOD CALL CHRIS!!!

Something interesting.... Does anybody remember the T.V. show on Nickolodean called "Salute Your Shorts"?? It was the show that took place at a summer camp and had a kid called "Donkey Lips". I remember coming up watching that show and it was good. Anyway, blast forward to the present of music, Blake Sennet (who played Ronnie Pinsky on the show) is the same guy who plays lead guitar for the indie rock band Rilo Kiley. This band is super good and I even used their song Silver Lining for my video part on "Aurite" which is our Hawaii BMX scene video put together by my boy KJ Lau. I thought this was pretty interesting so I decided to post about it here. Hahaha....

I meant to post this yesterday, but I felt super lazy all day. Especially, when the knee is still bothersome. Anyway, my homies dragged me out of the house to go eat with them at "The Counter" in Kahala Mall. It's basically your typical burger joint with a bar and has that sort of "Grease" style, local hangout spot type ambiance. I had half a BLT sandwich which I split with my homegirl Jenny, but for all the burger fans, you can create your own burger. Pick how much beef you want, cheese, toppings, everything. Pretty crazy. Prices range up there of course.... about $8 and up for a burger. Check it out if you're in the area.

Sunday was the 2 year anniversary for Aloha Fixed and Ryan Lau's birthday. It was held at Fresh Cafe on a BYOB basis. Also, yesterday was surgery day for me. Second time on the same knee. Wish me luck on recovery. I'm pretty woozy right now, so not much to say....

This Past Weekend

This past weekend was pretty fun. My boy Josh and I threw down for a hotel this past weekend to blow up our birthday's. My day was Tuesday and his was this past Friday. The first night was alright, a shit load of people came by to where security had to give us a warning for being too loud. But, that's what happens when everyone's having a good ol' time. Only down fall was there wasn't enough drinks to go around. I decided to keep it mellow on the drinks cause I still had to go to work the next morning. Got pulled over later that night because I forgot to turn my headlights on coming out of Jack In The Box. Did a whole DUI test to prove I was good and the cop was cool to let me go, appreciate that homie!!! Second night, was a little more chill. Not as much people, but more drinks. Had a little beer pong action going down and some drama. But other than that, it was legit. The drama is another blog on its own. When I'm ready I can post to what it's about, funny thing is it doesn't involve me. Hahahaha...... Anyway, this weekend was a success and chill. I need more weekends like that.

If you're in the area, check out Fresh Cafe over on Queen St. They serve up some fresh bagel sandwiches and coffee if that's your flavor. They offer good service, free wi-fi, and dope food. I personally had a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on a spinach bagel today for lunch. Super good. They're even open late for all us nocturnal peeps.... 3am on Fridays and Saturdays and 1am on the others. Check it out, it has my thumbs shooting up. SHOUT OUT TO TIFF OVER THERE......

-Went to go play pool tonight with the bestest friendzys. Got my ass handed to me... my shots were just off. I'm pretty decent if I may say so myself.

-Chillin' with my homegirls who are back from school in the mainland has been fuckin' awesome.

-Scooped up a pretty dope digi-cam from the club last Thursday night. Finders keepers, losers is stay crying....
-I go back for knee surgery AGAIN on the 26th. Wish me luck on a perfect recovery this time around.
-X-Games just got done: Garrett Reynolds won street, Anthony Napolitan did a double frontflip and took 5th.... THAT'S FUCKED UP!!, Jamie Bestwick won vert, nobody won flat, and where the fuck is dirt?!?!?!
-Speaking of dirt, August 22 and 23 is dig day at the Sand Island Sandbox. Come down and support the BMX race scene.
-Duane and The Quintessentials throw down once again at Anna Banana's on Friday night.
-Next week is full of August baby birthdays, including yours truly turning 23!!!
-Me, Jeff Jeff, and Bronson went riding around town yesterday after work and some random dude jumped in for the ride. Dude was hella sketchy skidding all over the place and tweaking on his gears. Fuckin' dumb ass!!!
-The Chrishan mixtape dropped a few weeks ago and it's been my favorite so far.
-Congrats to Josh and Azalea on hooking up.... kinda sorta!?!?!
-A big congrats goes out to one of my bestest friends Ryan and his now wife Val. Went to their wedding on Saturday with my sister, as well as Duane, his wife Mel, Blake and his family, Ken, Anthony and his family, Mitchy, and "Young Boy" Andrew. Crazy.... I still can't believe that happened. My best wishes to go out to Ryan and the family!!!!! ONE LOVE!!!!

Fuckin' work.... Sometimes you love it and sometimes you don't. Now-a-days it's a struggle for everyone. The economy is pretty shitty to where lay offs are happening and peoples hours are getting cut back. I thought I was in the clear working at Bikefactory, not really. I was starting to get my hours cut back to where my bank account consistantly stays near zero. Fuckin' shitty!!! I wanna get a new frame but can't, wanna finish my tattoo but can't, wanna do a lot of things that need money but have nothing. Times are hard.... but what can we do except go with it. Life's not entirely fucked. Just keep pushing forward and enjoy the ride. After work, kick back with the homies and have a beer. Enjoy what's still good.....

So my sister and I are back from Kauai and we didn't even unpack yet. So we finally got motivated to do so and Tia decided to put herself in the bag. For all you consumers, my sister isn't small at all and I was able to almost zipper her in there all the way. This bag does fit airline-legal dimensions, just as long as it meets the weight limit. All us boys use them to bring our bikes on trips and shit, so you know it's bad ass. You could even smuggle a midget if you wanted to. If you're planning a trip soon, get one son!!!

What up to those who actually stop by this blogspot!!! I got a chance to jump on my uncle's laptop to throw down this quick post. So my sister and I have been here for the last three days. We get back home to Honolulu late tomorrow night. Everyday since we've been here was beach day. We got in kinda early on Thursday, came straight to the house to drop off our stuff and went straight to the beach. Yesterday, woke up early in the morning and went straight to the beach and went bowling later on in the evening. Woke up this morning and went straight to the beach again. As luxurious as that may sound to some, I'm pretty over it. Lucky I live Hawaii, but fuck... too much sun is killing me!!! I'm actually ready to get back home. Lay down in my own bed, watch my own T.V., go to work, drive my own car, see the peeps!!! Other than that, Kauai is beautiful. Very green and kick back. Super moke-life over here. More country based compared to the hectic towney lifestyle back in Oahu. I'm so used to the big city that being out in the open like here throws me off big time!!! Being here is a cool way to throw things off a bit from our normal lifestyle. But, all in all, I miss my home. Can't wait to be back!!! Shoots.....!!!

Doing this kinda ass-backwards, but the night before Jeff Jeff's birthday was another party over at my braddah Alika's house. It was for the return of our homeboy Vinnie who is back from training in Texas. So of course, we need another reason to get all fuckin' wasted. It was good fun. Josh and I kicked some ass at beer pong before Napua and I teamed up once again for old time sake and annihilated everybody after that. No drama went down so that was a plus. What more could you ask for.....

Check this out.... To those who appreciate bicycles like I do, this is something to kinda awwww over. I had to build this bike that was shipped over for a customer and was surprised to see what was in it. It's a classic Raleigh Superbe which was equipped with a Suntour Superbe groupo and Campy hubs. According to Carl, it's about the same as some older-style Campagnolo parts. Either way, it still looks good. The lugs are nice and the paint is still original..... Pretty Sexy!!!
